American Craft Council (ACC) Executive Director Jeffrey Larris resigned his post in August. Both ACC and Larris cited professional differences as the reason for Larris departure. Larris joined ACC in 1998.
Board member Lee Eagle,
a craft collector and former owner of a clay supply business, will head the
search committee for a new executive director. At this point, says ACC
Board
Chair Leilani Lattin Duke, the committee is interviewing executive search
firms, which the board may decide to enlist to help with the search. Senior
staff members will continue to manage the councils day-to-day activities
pending the appointment of a new executive director.
Duke credited Larris with instituting some necessary internal processes during his three-year tenure, including the development of an employment manual for the council, and for hiring an education director and a library director.
Booth prices held, spaces added, and late arrival hours extended for 2002
The ACC has also announced
that it is extending the number of show booths available in the wholesale/retail
section of its winter 2002 show (Feb. 19-24) in Baltimore.
In addition to adding booths, the exhibit hall will be reconfigured to reduce
aisle crowding, and late arrival hours will be extended on the wholesale days
of the show. On Monday, Feb. 18, the late arrival period will begin at 6 p.m.
(three hours later than last year) and continue until midnight, one hour later
than previously scheduled. This change primarily affects exhibitors who are
also showing their work at the Philadelphia Buyers Market of American Craft,
which will be held from Feb. 1418, 2002.
Booth fees will remain at this years levels for ACCs 2002 shows. Applications for all 2002 shows can be obtained by calling (800) 836-3470, or via e-mail at shows@craftcouncil.org.
